Getting to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
a few days before Carnival, you will see magnificent costumes with rehearsals in the streets. Please note that on the first day of Carnival, prices double or even triple in restaurants, hotels, and shops.
To discover:
Rio and its 5 famous beaches:
Copacabana(4km long in South Rio), Ipanema (chic and trendy neighborhood) and Praia Vermelha (near Sugarloaf Mountain), Barra da Tijuca and Praia da Prainha (secluded, wild beach).
To do: leave valuables at the hotel, and only take the necessary money for the day.
360° view of Rio de Janeiro by visiting the Christ the Redeemer of Corcovado (height 30m), altitude: 700m. Check the weather before leaving…it is sometimes in the clouds.
The bus: local, typical and cheap means of transport. Payment on board.
To get to the foot of Corcovado, choose bus n°512 (Urca – Zona Sul) (approximately every 10 minutes, no schedule, just wait for the bus to arrive!). then take the train.

at the foot of the hill, bright red train. the journey lasts 20 minutes.
For the very athletic, the hiking trail (about 2 hours).
