Guadeloupe

Guadeloupe Haute Terre - Basse Terre

8:30 a.m. flight from Paris to Pointe à Pitre.
Time difference: – 6 hours

For the dry season from mid-November to mid-May

The island is shaped like a butterfly. The houses are colorful and the temperature is constant. Bring mosquito spray for the evening.

For future vacationers: (I went in early December 2021)
There is gas, food in stores, pharmacies are open, bars and restaurants too... roadblocks have been removed and (new generation) speed cameras have been burned...

Idyllic beaches!
Water, approximately more or less 25°

° Plage guadeloupe

Guadeloupe - plage Haute terre

Green paradise in Basse Terre with the Soufrière volcano (1,467 meters)

In the French West Indies, a car is essential for getting around, being independent, and exploring freely. Buses are scarce, and trains are non-existent.

The island is small, so visiting "Haute Terre" and then "Basse Terre" is easy.

For information, most of the new generation speed cameras have been burned.

The beaches are beautiful... black sand in Basse Terre,

Haute Terre - white sand. Water at approximately more or less 25°

  • Anse du Souffleur in Port Louis, a magnificent beach like a huge swimming pool well protected from waves, perfect for families.
  • La Grande Anse des Salines de la Pointe des Châteaux, superb but very rough (photo below)

Guadeloupe - Morne-à-l'Eau
Unique, all in black and white checkerboard, the strange tombs of the Morne-à-l'Eau cemetery.
Pointe à Pitre
It's also grass growing on the sidewalks, unmaintained houses,
traffic jams...
